AVISO IMPORTANTE DE SEGURANÇA NO MAR

Terms of Use & Water Safety Responsibility

By using SurfChecks, you understand that ocean conditions change quickly and no online forecast replaces observing the beach in person, knowing your swimming limits, and obeying lifeguards and maritime authorities.

01 // INFORMATIONAL FORECASTS

How to Use SurfChecks Forecasts

Wave height, set size, period in seconds, wave power in kJ, wind, and tide values are estimates designed to help you plan your session. Real beach conditions can vary with shifting sandbars, local gusts, and rogue sets.

02 // SAFETY ON BEACHES & ROCKY REEFS

Always Watch the Ocean for 10 Minutes Before Entering

At rocky pointbreaks or cliff-backed spots (such as Jardim do Mar, Paul do Mar, Ponta Pequena, Contreiras, or Fajã da Areia), rising tide can submerge your exit path. Always check where you will climb out before entering the water and exit well before high tide blocks the ramp.

If you are a beginner, stick to sandy beaches (like Seixal, Maiata, Alagoa, or Machico on small days) and surf with a certified surf school.
